McDo PH: Simple Joys #Kuya Ad

This 46-second ad got me teary-eyed, and now I'm craving for pancakes...

On a serious note, I must say, this is simple yet very touching.. I totally felt the sincerity in this ad by McDonald's Philippines. The truth is, being socially accepted is a struggle for many --- not just for those with down syndrome. Seeing an ad as beautiful as this one, brings hope that we can still live in an environment where you won't be judged just because you look different. That is beauty in a raw, genuine perspective.

Thank you McDo Philippines for this reminder.

First Time in Sagada: Kiltepan Viewpoint

I finally had the chance to set foot in Sagada. The travel time from Manila to Sagada, is around 12 hours by car. I know I had traveled longer than that when I was younger (going to Ilocos with my family).. but coming from a night shift work schedule, that's crazy! Good thing my friends and I decided to spend a night in Baguio before heading to the mountains.

Stunning. That would be the best word to describe the vantage point I had in Mt Kiltepan. A tour can be arranged so that a van will take you up, but walking around 4 kilometers is worth an experience too. I don't mind long walks for as long as the weather is cold. But I should have worn my rubber shoes, it's was a bit painful to walk wearing flip flops because of the rocky path :)

A sea of clouds welcomed us as we reach the peak. No wonder you'll see a lot of tourists armed with powerful cameras and tripods. Too bad the sun is already up when we got there. The next time I visit Sagada, I'll make sure to capture the sunrise at Kiltepan.

I saw some tourists headed for the edge of the mountain, towards the sea of clouds. So I went to take a look. I didn't go as far as other tourists did, At the back of my mind, I was wondering if they were just hanging on a branch of a tree or something. I got a bit scared, haha. Anyway, I got a glimpse of what they were looking at. If you're into photography, the feeling was like having a wide-angled lens attached to your very eyes. It was a magnificent birds's eye view of the rice terraces, mountains, and fields!

Of the places I've been to, that breathtaking view at Mt. Kiltepan is incomparable. Definitely worth visiting.

5 out of 5 stars.

Fireworks and Positivity... Hello 2013!

I hope you all had a great time during the holidays!

Can you believe it? Just like that, we're already done with week 1 of 2013! It was a good start, I choose to be positive. Time to learn more, and achieve more. Time to give, and to be more thankful for all the blessings - no matter how small or big it is. It's an amazing life. We have an amazing God!

I love fireworks. I see that a lot of people now are more appreciative of fireworks than firecrackers. In our neighborhood, I noticed that the noise from firecrackers during New Year's Eve have somehow lessened already compared to how it was in the past years where it used to sound like a war zone.

Here are some pictures I took during New Year's Eve:

2013 Starbucks Planner

What I like about November is that it marks the start of "sticker collection season" for Starbucks coffee lovers. I've been getting Starbucks Planners for several years already; it's a nice reward for being a loyal customer.

For this year, Starbucks Philippines started to offer the signature Christmas drinks last Nov 3. Along with it came the 2013 promo card wherein you need to complete a total of 17 stickers to get 1 planner. I got mine yesterday, Nov 8. wooooot! No I haven't drank 17 cups of coffee in a span of 5 days.. Teamwork is the key! :) Try it out with your coffee buddies, and you'll be surprised how many planners you'll end up with before the promo ends.

He is in Control

A Time for Everything

Ecclessiastes 3:1-15 NIV

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:
a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.

What do workers gain from their toil? 10 I have seen the burden God has laid on the human race. 11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. 12 I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live. 13 That each of them may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all their toil—this is the gift of God. 14 I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. God does it so that people will fear him. 15 Whatever is has already been, and what will be has been before; and God will call the past to account.

No matter how "prepared" we seem to be, one could not escape the heart-piercing pain brought about by the death of a loved one.

That each day you recalled as a blessing of life, has also been a step closer to the end...

That each day you prayed for strength, caused you an uncontrollable amount of tears...

This is life...  in all its genuinety.

Amidst the pain, there is nothing to fear though...

God is here, and He is in control.

I miss you Dad, it's been a year....

Halloween Pumpkin

I've always wanted to create something like this, I think I'll get really really creative...

Freshly carved pumpkin from the Le Chef Lunch Buffet Table at the Manor, Camp John Hay,  Baguio City

...but then again, I hate (and I am afraid of) using knives! I got a bad cut while I was peeling green mangoes when I was a kid. So there, it's better if I just take pictures instead. It keeps my hands safe from a possible bloody mess.

Enjoy the long weekend, everyone! Stay safe!
